Emergency Response Plan: Any Emergency

Over the course of the next few of months, the Genera Solutions blog will be emphasizing handling emergency office situations and dedicating a blog post specifically to each of the issues.

These plans are designed to protect all employees during emergencies. To begin this series, below are basic guidelines to follow during any emergency that may happen during office hours.

For your reference, the Genera safety team and their extensions are listed on the right-hand side of this blog.

  • Remain calm. Panic can cause more damage than the emergency itself.
  • Call 9-1-1 and relate all pertinent information (address, office number, name, etc.)
  • Do not become a spectator. Go away from-- not towards, the problem area. Avoid getting in the way of emergency personnel.
  • Follow directions of those in charge of the situation.
  • If necessary, evacuate your office area and the building. Evacuation route plans indicating exits are located in each elevator lobby.
  • Report any special assistance requests to Building Services.
  • If possible, confirm that the floor is clear of personnel by walking the floor after evacuation. Close all doors, but do not lock them.

Next week we will explain how to properly evacuate.

Tony: Tony filled in for me while I was away for vacation and did a fantastic job on top of his already busy schedule. This made getting back into my daily routine much easier than I expected and it is truly appreciated.

Tony: Tony really did an excellent job while filling in for Matt Mitchell when he was on vacation during the week of 5/11/14.  Not only did he handle the Coast to Coast Daily reconciliations, but he also worked in the office past 9:00 PM on 5/15, making sure that the Coast To Coast Invoicing was processed correctly.  Nice Job Tony!

Tony: Tony was a key force in ensuring that the CTC May Allotments were released this past week.  Though this was the first time he had to initiate this process, he worked on reconciling the data into the late hours and caught the discrepancies we needed to correct.  I really appreciated his help!

Chris E: Not only did Chris help to ensure the audio/video success of our recent Town Hall meeting, but he has a great attitude daily while assisting with the plethora of problems - real and imagined - that we throw his way.  Awesome job, awesome attitude, awesome follow-through and awesome follow-up Chris!

Sharon: She is so easy to work with and her great personality comes through even with email ... to me that just makes my day!

Anne: She stayed with me until every question was answered!! She is awesome!

Catherine: She is one of the nicest and most helpful people I know.  Today, she not only stopped payment on a check which had been miss-issued due to a communication breakdown but she also reminded NJ to re-enter the two out of three invoices which still do need to be paid.  She is totally on top of her game!

Teresa M: She is a very excellent and conscientious payables coordinator.  She checks everything twice and even when other people make errors she is almost certain to catch them. She is a joy to work with!

Jayadev: He is always there to lend his help and support . Also for working on weekends to keep our systems running smoothly.

Sara: She is a great and patient trainer...there is no other like her! I want to recognize her as an outstanding person. She takes training to a personal level she makes sure you understand not only how to do the job but why.  After today's training on my new job, I can take it on with confidence.

Mike I:  His great work on our behalf at Hearst Magazines

Sara: She listens to all sides of an issue and then comes up with simple and beautiful solutions.  She thinks outside the box and can solve thorny problems with a minimum of extra work created for anyone.

Kris: She has been great to work with since I became the AAM contact responsible for Comag testing.  She was very patient in explaining the process to me and always has a quick turnaround for my requests.  This is crucial so auditors can complete their assignments in a timely manner.

Tony: He has trained me on new duties and is very detailed. All I have to do is pick up my notes and screen shots and do my job. The training I received from him saved the day! I am very lucky to have  the best Trainers!

Emily: She is always such a wonderful help and very accommodating even when we have to make several changes after a galley closes.  She is incredibly responsive and I really enjoy working with her.  Thank you for everything Emily!

Maria: Maria has been the lead on creating a CMG Sharepoint site to replace our current Intranet site.  She has done a great job on this project.  She is an excellent communicator and extremely proactive.  I want to recognize her for her efforts!

Darryl: He consistently goes out of his way to provide great customer service for my clients and I. He anticipates things that I might not have thought of, is timely and super friendly.  He is also flexible (which is an added bonus) and a great asset to your team. Taylor and all the rest of your team deserve kudos as well. This kind of service, especially at this point in the business, is a wonderful selling point for your company.

Susan: She makes my day on a regular basis - and has for decades now. Her timely notifications, attention to detail and friendly demeanor make here email contacts a welcome addition to my inbox.

Catherine: Her going way and beyond what she had to day!

Nataliya: The way she communicates with users to get to the bottom of the problem and tries her best to resolve it herself first. Her overall organized manner in which approaches any task is very commendable.

Jayadev: Simply, Jayadev solves problems.  It seems like any time my group asks for something new to be developed or something existing to be fixed Jayadev knows what to do.  Extremely knowledgeable and tireless he is an invaluable contributor.

John W: I really appreciate John Wilkerson readily helping me any time I need assistance with Excel or any of the machines in the conference rooms. He assisted me this morning in the manager\'s meeting by driving the presentations so I could type the notes. That helped tremendously.

Uday: He has been my a constant since going live with my new duties in AP. He is making sure I understand how to correct my mistakes and acknowledges when I get it right.   I feel comfortable going forward on my own. I know challenges will occur but just knowing Uday is here to help will make it less of a challenge.
