Happy Easter on Sunday, April 5th!

Genera’s first quarter town hall will be held on Tuesday April 14th from 11 AM to 2 PM.
More details to follow.

  • April 15th is the last day to file your income taxes!
  • It is recommended that a quarter is donated for every magazine you take. At the end of the first quarter, we will count the donations and give to a children’s local charity.
  • Please do not grab magazines off of the display case. They are rotated every month; and once the rotation for that particular month is finished, they are placed back our for anyone to take home.
  • In an effort to become more environmentally friendly, please opt to use the available ceramic coffee mugs instead of paper. Please also do not forget to wash your cup once you are finished.
  • Dusting is included in the janitorial services provided. However, the night crew is instructed not to dust desk tops that have items on them (i.e. paper, files, personal items sitting on desk, etc.).  For liability reasons, they will not dust when there are items on a desk that could be broken or damaged. Desktops are cleaned weekly, and our office is scheduled for Wednesday nights. Furthermore, the small recycling bins located at each cubicle and office are not emptied by the janitorial staff. You can empty your recycling bin in one of the large blue recycling bins located throughout the office that way for any recycling you want removed. All trash cans are and should be emptied on a nightly basis.

Liz C.: Liz is always happy to share her creative resources with the rest of the team which makes our job easier when contacting wholesalers. Thanx Liz!

Emily: Emily is always responsive.  She will take the time to answer information requests within hours or even minutes, if possible.

Sandi: She solved my problem!

Sara: Sara is a great facilitator of meetings.  Her meetings begin promptly, cover relevant topics, and never get off-track. It is refreshing to know that items covered will be attended to by the parties involved and that our time is never wasted. Thanks for being so very much on track Sara, it is definitely appreciated!

Sara: There seems to be no Oracle related problem that Uday and/or Sara cannot solve, nor any Oracle-related answer Uday and/or Sara cannot provide.  Every helpful step, detail, and/or Oracle enhancement we've received in Operations and Set-Up within the past year (and longer) stem back to their support and guidance.  They are phenomenal and I'm thankful for their presence everyday!

Chris Z: Thank you Chris for working over the weekend getting the NJ tape backup system diagnose and repaired. I appreciate the behind the scenes evening and weekend time and effort.

Sandi: I'm not sure how Sandi has managed to keep things going since the "disruption" of last summer, but she has. Always quick to respond, she has worked with great patience trying to clean up the mess caused by that disruption. She certainly makes what we do easier.

Teresa M.: That would be days as Teresa has been very responsive to my Publisher requests regarding the supporting detail on a recent remittance advice.

Melissa: Her prompt response and submission of reports with time for me to read and prepare for Publisher meetings.

CatherineI want to thank Catherine Dunton for always giving me a heads up when a deposit has been made to our account that we have no clue who the wholesaler is. She is absolutely appreciated!

Employee Spotlight!

Each month we will feature two employees at Genera Solutions to get to know them better. Our two employees for March are Sharon and Mike Sr.!

We see our co-workers on a daily basis, but may not always get the chance to engage or get to know them like we want. Our employee spotlights allow us to get to know each other on a deeper basis.

What are your favorite hobbies?
Reading, Running, Shopping, and Travelling.

Is there one quote that you live by?
"Time tells all"

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
I would be a puppy because I love my Beagle. She is so lovable, loyal and smart.

What is your favorite movie?
Forest Gump

What is your favorite restaurant in Charlotte and what do you like the order there?
Firebirds. They have the best wood grilled salmon.

Who is your favorite sports team?
Carolina Panthers

What is one thing you want to do in life that you have not accomplished yet?
Hit the Lottery

What are your favorite hobbies?
I collect and listen to Old Time Radio Shows from the 1940’s and 1950’s.  My favorites are “The Jack Benny Show”, ”Suspense”, “Escape”, “Dragnet” and “Gunsmoke” (yes Dragnet and Gunsmoke started as Radio shows).  Also a big fan of 1940’s Big Band Music, Glen Miller is my favorite.

Is there one quote that you live by?
Well, I’m a Christian, so “Love Thy Neighbor” is the quote I “attempt” to live by.

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
Definitely I would like to be a thoroughbred racehorse.  It is an animal with that rare combination of beauty, power and speed.  Plus as an added benefit, you get to compete.

What is your favorite movie?
I have a few that I love, but my favorite has to be Casablanca (1942 – Warner Bros).  This movie has everything, iconic stars, fantastic lead characters, memorable lines and a theme song you cannot get out of your head.  It won three academy awards, including best picture!

What is your favorite restaurant in Charlotte and what do you like the order there?
My new favorite in Ballantyne is the Stone Mountain Grille.  It has a nice atmosphere, and great service.  If you go, you have to try the Firecracker Shrimp. (We also get 15% off our food for lunch and dinner by showing our Ballantyne Corporate Park card!)

Who is your favorite sports team?
That’s easy, anyone who has been in my office knows that I am a huge Yankees Fan.  I got hooked back in 1961 with Maris and Mantle and the great home run race.  By the way, back then, the best box seat at Yankee Stadium cost $3.50, now they charge $2,500.00.  Talk about inflation!

What is one thing you want to do in life that you have not accomplished yet?
Live long enough to see my 2-year old granddaughter, Maddy grow up and become a huge success in life.  That would make me very happy.

Magazine Announcements

One perk of working at Genera Solutions is the magazine shipment we receive every Thursday morning. Since all of the magazines we take are complimentary, a Go-Gen request was submitted for a donation box.

We have been successfully implementing this idea for a few months.  This is completely voluntary, but recommended that a quarter is donated for every magazine you take. At the end of the first quarter, we will count the donations and give to a local children's charity.

When the magazine shipment arrives on Thursday’s, we are following a rotation schedule on which department will get first pick. This ensures fairness for every employee. You may choose up to 5 different titles, but please only take 1 copy per title. If copies are left over at the end of the week, you are welcome to more.

Schedule:

    4/2/15 - AR and FAS
4/9/2015 - Operations
        4/16/2015 - Setup
   4/23/2015 - Pub. Pay
4/30/2015 - Incentives
         5/7/2015 - IT/OBA

After those dates, the rotation will begin again. Another blog post will be created as the time gets closer.

Reminders:

If someone besides Liz T. signs for the magazines, please ensure that the monthly titles displayed in our lobby are pulled first (before others begin taking magazines). Examples: Cosmo, Glamour, Allure, Redbook, GQ, Flex, Lucky, Shape, etc.

Please do not remove the monthly titles on the display case. Once the rotation has finished, the titles will come down, and employees will have the ability to take them home. They are to remain displayed on the case until that time.
