Halloween Festivities

Next Friday is Halloween! In honor of the fun "holiday", Genera Solutions will be holding fun (but completely optional) contests and providing treats.

Scary, cute, or hilarious -- come dressed in your favorite costume. If you would like to participate in the contest, meet Liz in the main lobby (in front of the Pattison room) at 9 AM to have your picture taken. Pictures will then be emailed for fellow employees to anonymously vote on their favorite one!

Decorate your cubicle or office in honor of Halloween! If you would like to participate in this contest, email Liz, and she will come around to take pictures at 10 AM. Pictures will then be emailed for fellow employees to anonymously vote on their favorite one!

An email containing the pictures of people everyone in the contests will be emailed at 11 AM on Friday, October 31st, along with a link to cast your votes. Voting will stay open until 1:30 PM.

Halloween treats will be provided in the break room at 2 PM and from there, the winners of each contest will be announced.

The winner of the costume and decor contest will each receive a $25 giftcard to Target!

Employee Spotlight!

Each month we will feature two employees at Genera Solutions to get to know them better. Our two employees for September are Jennifer and Santiago!

We see our co-workers on a daily basis, but may not always get the chance to engage or get to know them like we want. Our employee spotlights allow us to get to know each other on a deeper basis.

What are your favorite hobbies?
I love working out, watching movies/TV series and traveling

Is there one quote that you live by?
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me Phillippians 4:13

What is your favorite movie?
Taken-the original one in 2008

What is your favorite restaurant in Charlotte and what do you like the order there?
Ru Sans Japanese Sushi Cuisine -- California Sunset Roll

What is one thing you want to do in life that you have not accomplished yet?
My ultimate goal is to own my own non-profit organization which targets HIV/AIDS health education and promotion in low-income communities.

What are your favorite hobbies?
My favorite hobby is reading a good book early in the morning at the beach with a jar of orange juice sitting next to me (yeah, it didn´t happen during my four years in Nebraska…!). I also enjoy traveling, writing, playing guitar, singing, biking, and playing racquetball.

What is one quote that you live by?
“In law a man is guilty when he violates the rights of others. In ethics he is guilty if he only thinks of doing so” – Immanuel Kant

The mystery of free will intrigues me! The art of acting out of reason rather than impulse is even more intriguing; it´s a daily challenge.

What is your favorite restaurant in Charlotte and what do you like the order there?
131 Main is great! I went there last Friday and ordered Cajun Penne Pasta – sautéed shrimp in a parmesan sauce with scallions and sour cream.

What is your favorite movie?
Isn´t The Lion King the best movie out there? It doesn´t matter what your age is, people still cry when Mufasa di_ s  and Simba tries to wake him up. See? I can´t even write it…I also like The King´s Speech and A Christmas Carol (2009).

What is one thing you want to do in life that you have not accomplished yet?
Even though business/finance is my passion, I really want to publish a novel when I am older.

"You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore."
–Christopher Columbus

Liz C: Liz bravely faced the terror of cleaning out the refrigerator last week. There was some frightful things left in there! Thank you Liz for doing such a great job. Much better :)

Emily: Emily recently took over managing the Redan Publishing titles. Emily has proven to be extremely reliable and responsive, especially when taking into account the tight time contraints and many "emergencies" that occur with these titles.  I am extremely thankful for her hard work!

Chris E: Chris is extremely helpful and pleasant to work with.  He always has time for a question and is willing to work with you when it fits your schedule. It is great to have him on site.

Liz C: Liz really steps up to the plate and takes initiative to help me get things done around the office. It is a good feeling to know that when I am pulled in many different directions, I can always depend on her for a helping hand. She helped me tremendously on Friday for the town hall event. Liz Taylor

Chris E: For the town hall event, I had last minute errands to run. I was crunched for time and he assisted me in loading my car, running the errands, and setting up for the town hall meeting. It helped save a lot of time.

John W: John helped me figure out why my Kudos would not go through. Thanks!

Sandi: Sandi is always very helpful with any questions that I have and she is always pleasant and very friendly to everyone she meets.

Amy: Amy is always helpful when she and I have to discuss any problems or areas of concern. We definitely have to communicate with each other frequently and she is never too busy to stop and help.

Susan: Again, one of the reports did not make sense to me as I was not able to tie into it.  I emailed it to Susan and she researched the problem and informed me why I was not able to balance.  Susan is such great help to myself and others in my department.

Colleen: Colleen is very helpful any time we need her to do anything within her purview. From fast response to thorough knowledge, she is the best at what she does for GS. She came through for me just today & I want to express my appreciation!

Sandi: Sandi is always prompt with sending our RDA audits out to the consultants and receiving quick responses from them.

Liz T: Liz did an extraordinary job in organizing and setting up for the Genera Town Hall Meeting/Cookout last Friday, September 5th.  Thanks for all of your hard work in making sure that the event was a big success and employees had a good time.

Emily: Emily is ALWAYS extremely helpful and informative. She definitely exudes a team player attitude, which I appreciate. Emily is a pleasure to work with.

David: Taking the time and patience to show me how do get a report done in Edge.  It made what I was working on a lot easier and I am very appreciative of his time.

Kris: Kris and I have different duties in our department but she is great to bounce ideas off of & always ready to try to help whenever I have Oracle problems.  Glad to have her as my cube neighbor.

Sara: Sara helped me with a Oracle problem I had been having and explained thoroughly why I had the problem and how to fix it. She is always helpful and smiling.

Chris E: I had a problem with Edge and Chris came and  fixed if for me immediately.  He is always helpful and courteous. He also helped me with another problem while he was at my desk.

Catherine: Catherine has helped me solved a couple of problems with Vendor's bank accounts and routing numbers. Payments weren't going through but with her knowledge of the US and Canadian accounts she helped me solve the problems. Glad we are on the same team.

Sara: Sara spent much time researching a problem which turned out to be a part of setup that I failed to include.  I appreciate her dedication and hard work.

Jayadev: Knowing our system and guiding us to programs we have available to help our Dept with processes.

Mike SR: Mike is always very helpful when I have any computer questions. He will even research to see if he can figure out a problem and always with a smile.

Barbara: Barbara has had to do some billing adjustments for some  titles for a publisher I deal with and they required quite a bit of research. She has gone out of her way to find the answer so the accounts are billed correctly.

Taylor: I'm tremendously grateful that Taylor covered for me while I was out on vacation for a week, she made sure Conde Nast, weeklies, & our new Foreign business was completed, she also ran the allotment notices for CTC, CMG, and Genera. Thank you Taylor for all of your hard work!

Mike SR:  I would like to thank Mike Iaanacone for taking over the PFR contracts after the transition and i feel he now understands the functionality to a great extent that he is able to create new contracts and contract amendments with minimal support from I.T

Judy: I had to ask for Judy's help with some billing adjustments and she went out of way to help me and as usual was very pleasant. She even had to do additional research and  it was much appreciated.

Sharon: I am a very small customer, but she remembered to send info I requested last week. Allotment notices are VERY important to us.

Matt: Matt always helps me put up the coffee and notify me if we are running low on something. He does this on a consistent basis and his help truly means a lot-- not just for me, but for the company!
